4th Day After Surgery
They had to drain some fluid off of Jim today. The chest drain was taken out two days ago, and they've been doing chest x-rays to monitor whether fluid was accumulating. We don't believe at this time that it's a huge concern that some excess fluid was in there. After having that done, he has had some pain and they have given him more meds to help.
His blood pressure is doing better, and they're giving him some more meds to help pull more fluid off of him. His upper body isn't retaining nearly as much as it was post surgery. But his legs and feet are still retaining quite a bit.
It's a process, and unfortunately you don't always get a good guideline of what's normal and not normal as you go through everything. But from what we've seen and heard this week, nothing really is happening that's out of the ordinary or a cause for concern. Everything seems to be going as expected, and better than expected at times.
They're still estimating that he will come home tomorrow, possibly Sunday.
